Wakefield AFC and Robin Hood Junior Football Club Join Forces to Form Wakefield AFC Juniors

Wakefield AFC is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Robin Hood Junior Football Club. Starting from the upcoming season, Robin Hood JFC will transition to become Wakefield AFC Juniors, marking an exciting milestone in the club’s commitment to building junior football in the community.

Since taking over Wakefield AFC, VO2’s primary objective has been to develop and strengthen junior football, and we couldn’t have found a more suitable partner than Robin Hood JFC. With over 200 young players set to make the move, this collaboration represents a transformative moment for both clubs and the wider community.

This announcement is undoubtedly one of the most significant achievements for Wakefield AFC since our take over in late December 2021. It underlines our unwavering dedication to fulfill our promise of reshaping the club’s image and transforming it into a community asset.

By forming Wakefield AFC Juniors, we are committed to provide a clear and seamless pathway for talented players to progress from junior football into our development and first-team squads. This partnership allows us to expand the current program, offering enhanced playing opportunities and nurturing player development for serious and aspiring players. All existing structure at Robin Hood JFC will be incorporated and will be the pillars from where we develop and expand the new junior club. We would like to thank Keith, Paul and all coaches and parents at Robin Hood JFC for their support.

Further details regarding the Wakefield AFC Juniors program, teams, and registration procedures will be unveiled in the coming days. The club encourages all interested parents, players, and community members to stay tuned for the forthcoming announcements.

Gui Decca, Chairman of Wakefield AFC, expressed his enthusiasm for this groundbreaking partnership, stating, “We are delighted to join forces with Robin Hood JFC and welcome them into the Wakefield AFC family. This collaboration aligns perfectly with our vision of creating a strong junior section and significantly grow the community aspect of Wakefield AFC. Together, we will continue to make significant strides in player development and community engagement.”

Keith Moore, Chairman of Robin Hood JFC, shared his excitement about the partnership, saying, “Here at Robin hood we are so proud of what we have achieved, we are a tight close community club and have not only given all kids a chance to play but we have produced some real talent, we have been looking at ways to nurture this and give our kids the best opportunity. Having seen the success and ambition of one of the nearest local clubs we believe partnering up with Wakefield AFC would be a fantastic opportunity for our players and local football to develop. I want to express my thanks to Gui & Andre, Rob & Emma. Exciting times lie ahead for everyone concerned with Wakefield AFC & now Wakefield AFC Juniors.”
