Wakefield AFC is delighted to announce its new Analytics and Performance department.
The department’s primary goal is to build a state-of-the-art analytics and performance team to help with player recruitment, match analysis, and talent development.
According to Guilherme Decca (VO2 Capital CEO and Wakefield AFC Board Member): “Wakefield AFC’s ability to grow on the field will depend on doing things differently and trying to minimise recruiting mistakes that can be very costly for a small operation like ours. The analytics department is just the first step. Over the next six months, we want to add more UEFA licensed coaches, invest in fitness, nutrition, and tracking technology. All in all, we want to be a top destination for young, promising players to advance their careers.”
VO2 Capital is sponsoring the initiative and will add Caio Silva to Wakefield’s AFC team. Caio Silva is a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Münster, Germany. In addition, Caio is passionate about football and has studied advanced football analytics while doing quantitative research at the University of Münster. Under this capacity, Caio will report to Andre Ikeda, VO2 Capital partner.
Chris Turner, Wakefield AFC Director of Football, commented: “We are delighted that V02 Capital is investing in a brand new member of staff, Caio Silva, to run our Data / Analytics initiative. Caio’s appointment will provide our coaches with great detail for our recruitment, match analysis, and development of our players.”
