changes for next season

Dear Wakefield AFC Supporters,

We are pleased to announce important organizational changes taking place at our football club in preparation for the upcoming season. These changes aim to enhance our operations, establish clear contact points for fans and sponsors, and support our expansion plans into the city of Wakefield.

Firstly, we are very happy to announce that Emma Ayrton has been promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Emma has been the club secretary since late 2021 and she has been our main person on the ground. She has taken on many additional responsibilities outside of her job scope, and it is only fitting that she be recognized for her great work. In her new role as COO, Emma will oversee all non-football operations and provide essential leadership in these areas.

We are also welcoming Rodrigo Storti to our Board of Directors. Rodrigo is a personal friend of many years; one who has a deep love for football and after a visit to Wakefield in November decided to join us on this journey and will help with our expansion plans.

Additionally, we are pleased to announce that Rob Urquhart is joining the club to oversee new Business Partnerships and Facilities. Rob is a great friend of the club, helps as a volunteer on match days, and has been supporting our management since day one. He is a club shareholder and will be looking to develop new business partnerships and help us procure and acquire/develop facilities, which we desperately need.

We’re also welcoming Gav Ansley to our team as our Community Officer. You may have seen him around, as he’s been involved with community outreach for match days for a few months now, showing his strong dedication to the club’s progress. If your school, business, or junior team is interested in getting involved with our match day, or us please contact Gav at gav@wakefieldafc.co.uk.

Last but not least, we are pleased to announce that Wayne Butterfield will take on additional responsibilities as he becomes the Club Secretary for both the men’s and women’s teams. Wayne has been doing a great job as the club secretary for the women’s team, and we are confident that he will excel in this new role.

They join our volunteers, football staff, players, and great social media team as we together, keep working hard on our arduous journey of turning this club around. It has not been easy, there’s still a long way to go but it’s incredible to see how much has been accomplished since January 2022. It could not have happened without this team.

Thank you for your continued support. We will share a comprehensive club update after the season ends. For now, let’s rally behind our teams as they push for promotion.

Sincerely,

Gui Decca and Andre
