MATCH PREVIEW: Wakefield AFC vs Jubilee Sports

Saturday 5th October 2019 | 3:00pm Kick Off | Dorothy Hyman Stadium, Cudworth

FORM
Wakefield are unbeaten in four matches and have lost only once this season, away to Swinton Athletic. Our lads have scored a whopping seventeen goals in the last four games and conceded just five, including last weekend’s Bayern-matching 7-2 scoreline away to Burngreave in the League Cup. The team is currently sixth in the table and need to continue the good form to challenge for the top spots.

Looking at the players, there’s form all over the pitch. Captain Manny Katundu has scored four goals in the last two games and will aim to make it three consecutive braces in a row this weekend (or better). Statistically speaking, winger Deji Alabi has four goals in five appearances this season but one of those games was when he went off injured and he came on as a substitute upon his return, so realistically it’s as good as four in four. Striker Rayjon Moore joins Manny and Deji on four for the season including three in his last four appearances. French winger Thomas Eclapier has also scored three in his last four to keep the battle for top goalscorer interesting. One name that is raising expectation at the moment is new player Mohammed Hamid who has scored five goals in his two appearances for the reserves to date and will hopefully be due for a run out with the first team soon.

SQUAD NEWS
There are no current reported injuries or absences. Keeper Quinaceo Hunt is away on international duty with Bermuda after this game and will miss the next fixtures against Oughtibridge and South Kirby Colliery in the league and league cup respectively.

OPPOSITION
Jubilee Sports have won three of their last four games after starting the season with four straight defeats so it looks like they could be hitting some form. Two of those wins came at home to Hepworth (8th) and Burngreave (15th) with their last match being a 2-1 win away to High Green Villa (14th). As a result they have climbed from the bottom three up to ninth in the last few weeks.

Next five fixtures:

Sat 12/10/19 – Oughtibridge WMSC First Team (home)
Sat 19/10/19 – South Kirby Colliery (home)
Sat 26/10/19 – Houghton Main First Team (away)
Sat 16/11/19 – Wombwell Main First Team (away)

Sat 23/11/19 – Stocksbridge Park Steels Reserves (home)
