It’s another landmark match in the early history of Wakefield AFC tomorrow as we play our first home match on the grass pitch in the stadium. So far, all of our games have been on the 3G pitch at home but we finally get to play on the pitch in the middle of the athletics track supported by our loyal fans in the stands. The team need to pick themselves up from Wednesday’s defeat and cut out the recurring errors that have affected our performances in the first four games of the season. It’s great that we scored eight goals in the first three games of the season but with five of those coming from the wing it shows we need to be more potent with our strikers. The other issue is that we have leaked ten goals in four games with too many coming from penalties or free kicks. We will find out tomorrow if the injuries picked up on last Saturday’s game at Penistone by Deji Alabi or Mike Owusu prevent them from being in the squad. Keeper Quinaceo Hunt is still away with Bermuda so Ryan Eades will retain his starting position in goal. Lennard Okalo looked impressive in his full debut on Wednesday and may well start again on the left of midfield.Frecheville finished sixth in the Premier League last season and have three points from six games so far. That came from a 4-3 win over High Green Villa but they have also lost 2-3 to Oughtibridge (opening day), 1-5 to Grimethorpe and 0-1 to Penistone. With nineteen goals in Frecheville’s four games and eighteen in Wakefield’s to date there should be plenty of entertainment for the fans tomorrow. That being said it could well be the only 0-0 match of the season as that’s just the way football goes sometimes. In our four games so far, five players have started every game. They are captain Manny Katundu and his midfield partner Jamie Hardwick along with defenders Jean Merour, Kyron Richards and Jack Enkh. Both Rayjon Moore and Nathan Weekes have played in every match but that includes some appearances from the substitute bench.
