Wakefield AFC can confirm that Jason Blunt will take over as First Team Manager with immediate effect.
The 48-year old arrives with vast experience within the game, having started his football career at Leeds United before going on to play over 150 times for the likes of Scarborough, Doncaster Rovers, Tamworth & Halifax Town.
Following his retirement from playing, Blunt started his coaching career with Sutton United in 2007 before heading back to where it all started with the Leeds United Academy, working his way up the ranks to eventually become the U23s Development Squad Manager in 2016. In 2017, Blunt left Leeds to take on a role with Mousehole AFC, before joining the i2i Academy in March 2018 where he still coaches to this day.
In more recent times, Blunt was appointed manager of Dearne & District FC in September of 2023, eventually guiding them to promotion to the NCEL for the 24/25 season. Blunt went on to recreate that with Doncaster City FC ahead of the 24/25 season, guiding the NCEL newcomers to promotion ahead of the 25/26 season.
Jason will be straight into training this evening and preparing for Friday night’s game against Armthorpe.
Welcome to the Falcons, Jason!
