MATCH PREVIEW: WAKEFIELD AFC vs APPLEBY FRODINGHAM

FREE-SCORING FALCONS!

Goals, goals and more goals. The opposition’s onion bag was rustled 21 times during October, one of the most prolific months in the club’s history.

Following four wins from the last six games, we head into a brand new month which kicks off with Appleby Frodingham at home on Saturday afternoon.

The men in white, blue and red will be hoping to continue a run of form which has seen the club rise to 10th in the league. Wakefield AFC now sit just five points behind the play-offs, with several games in hand and a strong goal difference, which was bolstered with huge wins against Yorkshire Amateur and Swallownest

OUR LAST MATCH

The first league match in a new era at Wakefield AFC.

The new management duo Steve Bodle and Lee Needham took over the reins earlier this week and the trip to Wombwell Town marked their first on the road in charge of The Falcons.

And it couldn’t have gone any better, coming away 3-2 victors with two late goals in the 87th and 89th minute from prolific pair Jaydan Sandhu and James Eyles respectively. Both have now accumulated twelve goals between them so far this season.

The victory saw Wakefield move up to 10th in the league, closing in on those all-important promotion places.

OUR OPPONENTS

Appleby Frodingham are the visitors to the Millenium Stadium in WF7 this Saturday, finding themselves second bottom in the league, nine points adrift from safety with a -35 goal difference.

The visitors have won just one game since the 27th of July, with their sole victory since coming against Nostell Welfare Miners, earlier in October.

Whilst Appleby have faced some tough defeats in recent weeks, a 10-2 drubbing in the cup and a 5-1 loss in their last league game, no game is easy in this league and Wakefield will need to be firing to springboard what will hopefully be a strong month under new stewardship.
