THE FALCONS SOARING HIGH!
The feel-good factor is high in WF7, as free-scoring Wakefield AFC currently sit on a four-match winning streak which has propelled them to 9th in the league and with at least one game in hand on every team higher up in the league.
With twelve goals in the last four, The Falcons take on Glasshoughton Welfare under the lights of the Millenium Stadium on Tuesday night and will be hoping to make it a fifth win on the spin to nudge them closer to the promotion places.
OUR LAST MATCH
Also on home soil, Wakefield AFC took on Louth Town, who sat just a few places above The Falcons before kick-off. The first half brought the danger of a three-match winning streak being undone, but a second-half flurry of goals from four different scorers prolonged a string of victories which has seen Wakey climb the table in recent weeks.
Morris, Eyles, Allsop and Francis were the goalscorers in a team which appears to be gaining slickness by the week. It will also please Wakefield’s boss that the team kept most of the possession, with a hefty 72% of the ball and 314 passes completed.
The match saw Wakefield finish the day in 9th position, just 3 points from the play-offs with a game in hand.
OUR OPPONENTS
Glasshoughton Welfare find themselves in 18th position, but don’t let that deceive you, as they trail Wakefield by just 3 points in what is proving to be a very tight league so far.
Their last two results will also prick up the ears of the men in white, blue and red, as Glasshoughton has put together two wins in two to banish their woes of August, where they failed to win in five league games, picking up just two points in the process.
3-0 and 3-1 wins will give them cause for optimism as two sides on the up go head-to-head in what is a local derby, as Glasshoughton travel a matter of miles to Featherstone to take on The Falcons in one of the final games which should kick off in lightness before we head into the darker months.
