Following two strong performances in the league, today we welcome 7th place Wombwell Main FC to The Millennium Stadium for our 3rd home game on the 2020/21 calendar.
Lockwood’s men will be wanting to build on the momentum they set themselves last Saturday with an emphatic 4-1 win win away at Stocksbridge Park Steels Reserves, and will be counting on the continued support from the ever-present Wakefield fans.
The Gaffer’s appreciation shone through for the Wakefield fans last week commenting: “The fans are great. As a Wakefield born lad to be part of this club means a lot. We’re putting a lot of work in to hopefully make it successful and something our community can be proud of”.
In terms of squad news, Crescenzio Arvanitis returns to the squad and is in contention for selection, whilst Bruno Bagi misses out through injury. Australian Mason Smith is also in contention to make his first team debut. The youngster has impressed in the EFP squad and will be pushing to get on and impress in the first team.
Our opponents today, Wombwell Main, also sit on 6 points from 3 league games, winning their last 2 against North Gawber Colliery and High Green Villa. As for themselves, they’ll be wanting to build on a similarly impressive start to the season.
