Wakefield AFC are delighted to announce that Wakefield-born ex-professional footballer, Lee Crooks, has joined the club’s coaching team.
Crooks, who made over 200 competitive appearances in the top three divisions of English football during his illustrious career, will add a wealth of experience to an already strong coaching set up.
Crooks started his footballing career at Manchester City, where he rose through the youth academy and signed his first professional contract with them at just 16 years old. He enjoyed 6 years at Manchester City before making a move to South Yorkshire club, Barnsley FC. Crooks also had stints at Bradford City and Rochdale, before moving outside of the Football League to Guiseley and Ossett Town.

Crooks, on joining Wakefield, commented: “I’m delighted to have been given this opportunity to be a part of a club in my home city. Wakefield AFC has a real opportunity to make a difference and unite the city and surrounding areas. Being involved in the start of the journey is a great opportunity for me to assist in building strong foundations for the growth of the club, which will also bring development to the city.“
